Interior Design Ideas For A Beautiful Bedroom

The bedroom is in some ways the most important room in the House. It is the sanctuary away from the troubles of the world, the ultimate escape from day to day life. Behind closed doors in the bedroom, problems can be forgotten. To create a setting for restful slumber, think about what colors and styles produce the greatest happiness and peace of mind. In your bedroom, you can have the off the wall decorations you’ve always wanted. The bedroom is private, so the interior design of your bedroom is all about you.

Your bedroom does more than just serve the need for a place to sleep. It accommodates you at all times of day, providing space for reading, studying, watching TV, talking on the phone, eating, and using the computer. Because of this, the bed is no longer the primary piece of furniture in the bedroom. Bedroom desks, large nightstands, or a television might be a better focus for your bedroom interior design. If you watch a lot of television in your bedroom, you might want to consider a chair and ottoman for more comfortable viewing.

If you like to read in your bedroom, you should pay special attention to the lighting in your bedroom. Dim, moody lighting may be restful, but it will cause eye strain when reading. The lighting should be at a level where you do not accidentally shade it, and tall enough to shine light on the book or magazine. Bedroom interior design professionals suggest that when using lamps in the bedroom, the lower edge of the lamp shade should be around eye level when seated.

Remember to choose colors that you find restful when decorating your bedroom. Exciting colors such as red should be avoided unless you personally find them comforting. Strong colors have been said to promote insomnia. Designing your bedroom interior with a splash of a bright color will liven up a room, but it should not be allowed to dominate.

Layered curtains in the bedroom are and excellent interior design choice. This allows you to wake up to filtered light, open the curtains for full light, or black out the room for naps and sleeping in. Blackout lined draperies will protect you from morning sun, whereas sheers or thin blinds will filter light for a gentle glow in the morning. Bedroom interior design has many options, and can be tailored to your personal preferences. The bedroom should be your sanctuary, and it is important to feel comforted and restful when you are there.

    Interior Designing Teen Bedroom?
Hey all! My (almost) 15 year-old daughter is moving down to our (what is now) office. We have already painted her room a lilac/lavender color. She found a beautiful metal queen-sized bed frame and she doesn’t know what else she wants. She can’t decide between black or white furniture. The bed is a four-poster black bed http://www.ifurn.com/Metal-Beds_ContourMB.html#ProdDetails and she found a room she really likes http://www.house-decorating-ideas.com/TeenGirlsPurpleBedroom.html but it doesn’t give the curtain names or anything. We have a 9 drawer double-dresser that is a natural wood and she wanted to paint it but is not sure now what to paint it. She was going to paint it white but now can’t decide between black or white. The trim of the room is white. She wants the color scheme to now be purple, black and white. Would that work? Do you have any ideas for her room? She doesn’t like contemporary but she doesn’t want her room to look childish. She wants it "pretty" and sophisticated.
Oh I almost forgot. She wants black and white photography in her room. Nothing with big flowers and no stripes or polkadots (Some exceptions) She has a very specific idea about her room and she just needs a little help (Remember a black metal bed) So what color furniture?
Correction nothing with big/small tropical flowers! =)
    Her room is 11′-6” x 14′-9”
There is only one wall with nothing on it (no windows, closet) Other walls not a lot of clear space to work with. Windows close together on two walls and then the closet. Any ideas for the closet?

    Thanks for your feedback everyone!

The room from the link looks a little victorian, and maybe too sophisticated, but if thats what she likes then it is very pretty. I would suggest going with white if you want it more elegant. Black is usually a more modern color. Also, black and white photographs and paintings would look great in the room too!

If you go to Target or a store like that, in the bedding section they will most likely have some purple/white/black bedding and lamps, curtains, rugs, or whatever else you need.

I suggest going with a light purple comforter and darker skirt/sheet underneath as pictures, with curtains that are shades of purple and white swirled. Pillowcases with lilacs on them would be nice, or darker pillow that match the bedskirt. For the dresser, I would suggest white with black knobs or little black vines/flowers painted around the outside or edges. Like in the picture, a purple and black striped or maybe polka-dotted chair would match the room, and maybe a black and white picture on the wall.

These sheets, for example: http://www.target.com/Home-Solid-Sheet-Set-Purple/dp/B001N59O6M/qid=1238899236/ref=br_1_3/178-2813737-5610346?ie=UTF8&node=15759341&frombrowse=1&pricerange=&index=tgt-mf-mv&field-browse=15759341&rank=pmrank&rh=&page=2 and these pillowcases maybe, with matching comforter: http://www.target.com/Room-Essentials-Standard-Pillowcase-Set/dp/B001898CXO/qid=1238899236/ref=br_1_7/178-2813737-5610346?ie=UTF8&node=15759341&frombrowse=1&pricerange=&index=tgt-mf-mv&field-browse=15759341&rank=pmrank&rh=&page=2

I also suggest one of these: http://www.target.com/Xhilaration-Zebra-Feather-Pillow-10×14/dp/B001AQ9KSG/qid=1238899367/ref=br_1_11/178-2813737-5610346?ie=UTF8&node=682619011&frombrowse=1&rh=&page=1 on a chair if she wants a little extra something.

ugh…15…here goes…I would stain the dresser ebony…it would allow the grain to show, but blend with the black and look more adult than painted furniture. perhaps a more ‘antique’ look in linens and accessories. i would take black and white photos of old buildings/ architecture from interesting angles and frame them out in old frames all painted black or silver (the frames can all be mis-matched but the color would unify them.) on the closet wall, i would either remove the closet doors and replace with curtains to match window curtains or cover them with matching/ coordinating fabric (like a giant bulletin board.) good luck.

White white is always better because it can make a room more light and happier feeling then dark and cold and for the closet get some really nice closet doors … i dont know hoe to explain what mine look like but just go to a hardware store and shop around

I think black, white, and lilac would look great. Heres an interior design idea :http://www.polyvore.com/teen_bedroom/set?id=7903759
Notes: Use purple sheets with the white blanket, to add some effect.
I added a selection of cool curtains I found, so you can chose which you like. You might be able to even do 2 different ones!
